anyone got any sugestions to get my 12 valve to blow a hole lot of smoke!!!!!!!!!!!!! just got the truck, dont now about any power mods that it has but it runs very well, it pumps 30 lbs of boost and take off like a bat out of hell. I am also concerned a bit about the EGT's, some days it will run 1200deg. down the highway empty and other days 700

Move your afc housing forward, put in a torqe plate, and big injectors. That will give you lots of smoke and high egts and a bad transmission.

First off welcome to TDR.

I think you have seen all of the smoke some of the big power guys make and thought smoke equals power.

If it is smoke you are after you can get that easily enough for free by grinding your fuel plate flat and sliding it forward. However I don't recommend it.

If you are looking for power I would start with a fuel plate and AFC spring kit and exhaust. A larger exhaust housing for your turbo would be next.

You also need to add your truck information to your signature so people can give you more accurate advise.

Welcome Travis.

Smoke=heat=blown head gasket or holes in the tops of piston from heat=transmission rebuild=$$$$

I know half a dozen people who still don't run egt gages while running extra fuel. They like the smoke/power. It's only a matter of time. These engines will take some abuse, but not every day. Heavy smoke while towing can cause problems in short time.

When someone posts about their truck running hot or puking oil from the blow tube check their signature for fuel mods.

Emitting huge clouds of black smoke is what causes the tree hugger liberal to push for government to further restrict diesel engines in cars and light trucks. It serves no useful purpose and brings the heavy hand of the socialist government down on all of us and our beloved Cummins-powered Rams.

In some states and locales it will get you pulled over and ticketed, possibly heavily fined for altered or missing emission control equipment. Some states like Kalifornia will impound your truck.

Smoke is bad news.

Go for tire smoke instead. You can have a healthy engine that way and tires are easier and cheaper to replace. Exhaust smoke does not automatically mean power.

Those youtube drag racing and pulling trucks are not street trucks and the guys running them have deep pockets for lots of parts.
