I have a 98 12V that I bought from Killer59, It has 4" straight pipe and we turned up the star wheel 30 clicks and the stock cam plate is moved all the way forward. I still want MORE, what I want to do is add bigger injectors and a different cam plate and bigger turbo, do I need to do this all at once or can I do a little at a time? Also any suggestions on any of these parts will be appreciated I want to go big early and not spend alot of money on stuff that will be upgraded in a few months because it is not enough. BTW I do have an EGT and Boost guage installed.

"can I do a little at a time?"

I prefer to make modifications in steps. If you put them on all at once you will have no idea which part did what. It may turnout to be helpful knowing your parts when the need arises to trouble shoot. I agree about going big right off the bat, just be sure to record some base line numbers with your current setup (egt/boost).

Shiffer: Call and talk to Piers and then lets get together and make that truck fly.

Welcome to the TDR Website!!

I agree with what everyone has already told you.

And I KNOW you will be in "good hands" with all

those guys from Texas, like "MDW. " They will

take care of you shiffer!

You can read my signature to see what I have

done. Like alot of the other "12 valvers" I

did my mods "a little at a time. " Easier on the

pocketbook!

Good luck!

My mods

You sound like me now, I have done a little but now I need some DTT before I go further, so what then, big plate, HX40, injectors. I believe that you cannot go wrong with Piers, he will work a package up for you cause he know what will perform. What is your transmission, it either needs DTT or Southbend parts in it.

Jim

Guys, this is beginnig to sound like a testimonial for Piers, COOL. I agree, talk to him, he will not steer you wrong. I don't know of anyone with more knowledge about our Twelve Valvers than Piers. By the way I have not been paid by, work for, Or in any other way compensated by Piers Harry, who by the way is a real hoot to talk to on the phone. If you happen to see this Piers, I will be calling you about another turbo and overflow valves tomorrow.

Don

Do you have an automatic or manual transmission ?? If you have the automatic, the first thing you want to do is replace the valve body. For the engine, go with a tst plate, and a gov spring kit.

Dont listen to these guys. The place you really want to call is a shop in Abbotsford BC Canada. Its called Piers Diesel Research or PDR. 604-853-9396. Now here's a guy who really knows what he is talking about;)

And I agree with the one guy about the PDR Governor Spring Kit. Once you have some power this is the best $125 ( for the 3000 rpm kit ) you can spend on a 12 valve.

I told you to call Piers!

I must excuse my friend's post. You see, I told him when I got through turning the truck up that he would be hooked and that he should call Piers when he wants Mo' Power! Of course he didn't trust my judgement even though I did most of the work on his truck and I am the one who forced him to join TDR as a provision of the sale of my 98 12 'er to him! Maybe now he'll know! (Ha, Ha!) Seriously though, welcome to TDR Shiffer! Now if you can just get that truck to keep up with my ETH! Good Luck! ;)

Shiffer,

Remember, when it comes to BOMB power, 12 valves rule! Even a sickly truck like Joe D's will run off from all these puny overvalved computerized monsters.
