Have 05 dodge want to get a straight through muffler... . just wondering which one is a good one... . want to be quite but sound good when i romp on it... . I have heard the MBRP so for and how big of exhasut to i need running AFE STAGE 2. everything else is stock so far.

No Muffler

Replace the muffler with a pipe from Geno's. Truck sounds awesome without it!! Not too loud at all.

I'd recommend riding in a ctd that's been straight-piped before committing. Whether or not its too loud is a definate matter of opinion. I'd at least add a resonator to limit exhaust drone. One of my fav. things about the 3rd. gen. engine is the reduced engine noise compared to my 01 ETH. Straight piping them makes them very throaty, but very loud. Ben

I had my 05 straight piped for awhile. Its too "raspy" sounding for my taste, not loud though. Needless to say I pulled the straight pipe off for MBRP's replacement muffler from DPPI. Sounds great. Nice quiet idle and cruise, but when you lay into it... others will know it.

I like my gutted mufflers. They aren't at all loud, but sure help the turbo spool up faster and lowered the exhaust temp a little. Best part... it is free if you are handy with a torch and welder.

If anyone is interested, I have written instructions I can e-mail. Just give me an e-mail address in a personal message.

I would have to agree with JRD. I helped my son replace his OEM ('05) muffler with a MBRP this weekend, it sounds great not much different than stock like JRD said, that is until you let all those Clydesdales loose :-laf I would recommend it too!

I just put on the MBRP replacement muffler, Cat. delete pipe, and AFE stage 1 last Thurday and have been smiling ever since. Sounds really good. Not too loud but rumbles when you stomp on it. Also had my first tow with the new goods that weekend and am very happy with it. Not loud when the truck is under the load and noticably cooler EGT's. Still had to watch'em of course but didn't have to get out of the throttle so soon.
