I want to get some new injectors for my truck. I'm looking more for better mileage rather than a lot of power and I have heard of decent increases from 275 RV's. See Sig below for info on truck.

Is this a good choice or is there something better? Anything else I should consider when looking for injectors?

Also where are some good places on line with decent prices. Plus I am pretty handy, but not too sure I want to tackle installing injectors, what is a ball park figure for this job if done at a diesel shop?

Thanks in advance,

J-

Ok I will attempt to answer this with out offending ANYONE in ANYWAY. I personally prefer Don M's F-1 Diesel Mach Inj. I have sold and installed numerous sets of his and the response I have gotten from customers has been overwhelmingly GREAT. I have also installed injectors from all of the other guys, with varing degrees of success. Some customers have liked them and some have hated them. If I had to say to stay away from one brand it would have to be bullydog. I PERSONALLY have not had a single customer like them after installation and almost all have immediately wanted them out and did so. THATS JUST MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. that is not a slam towards bullydog in anyway HONESTLY.

As far as installation. It would mostly depend on the shop, whether or not you bought the inj. through them and whether or not they cut a deal on installation. The installation is relatively easy and straight forward and shouldnt take but a few hours.

A "few hours" for a shop to install injectors?? That seems excessive to me. It didn't take that long for me (with a buddy directing, me doing) to swap mine out (first time) in a cold barn without air tools and poor lighting.

I run DDP injectors and couldn't be happier. Dynomite Diesel Performance Give Ross or Lenny a call.

Have fun.

The rv275 injectors are very mild, but good injectors for someone with a stock transmission. As mentioned the F1 & DDP injectors are both great injectors... . just don't get carried away on size if you don't have transmission mods/fuel pump mods. Personally I would get a box before injectors... . just for the fact that the box is adjustable & will be a better boost in performance. I'm just giving my opinion, but I think you would like a module like a ez or comp better. I would do a fuel system upgrade before any power adders too. Just my $. 02

Thanks for the replies.

As for upgrades to my truck I do have a stock 47RE that has pretty much been babied since it rolled off the dealer lot (never towed even near max and only hauled a few times heavy and I am not too heavy footed :) ).

I do have a FASS pump/filters and a Diesel Dynamics True Torque Power Module (which pretty much a re-badged/customed programmed for D. D, Edge EZ).

Truck really has all the performance I need/want as set up, but I would like just alittle more kick and better fuel mileage that many talk about with 275's and similar injectors. I'm not looking to win any races or sled pulls, LOL.

I am also looking to keep my truck for atleast another 4 years until wifes van is paid off as we cant afford two new car payments, so longevity/reliabilty would be big too. Once that happens though, Mega Cab 3500 here I come! :D

Keep the info coming,

Thanks

I'm in the same dilema as you, and I have my heart set on a set of the F1 Mach 1. 6's, everyone I have asked and research here on TDR has led me this direction. One of the comments that led me away from the RV275's was the consistency of them within a 6 injector set, I have heard reports of up to 10% difference in pop off pressure within any 6, they seem to be a high volume item with lower attention to detail.

The 1. 6's are availible for around $700 exchange and my local shop will install them for $120.

Sorry I mis typed a little. I was intending the 'few hours' for a first time do it yourselfer... I guess I should have spoke/typed more clearly. Some times my hands dont do what my brain tells them to... lol

I'm sure a fellow member near by will help you out for a six pack. I would do it if you live close to PA. ;)

Well, on reading my post again, it sounds a little harsh. I did not intend that!

You are right to be concerned about inconsistences in pop off pressures in injector sets. I have eye witnessed some that were nearly 30% different. This will not happen with DDP injectors. I have witnessed their testing and they are perfectly balanced!

I went from dd3's to mach 1. 6's due to needing to lower egts for towing. Got them from Bob Wagner & couldnt be happier. Great injector. ---Proflow

Anybody ever have any problems with cruise control surge after swapping injectors . I've heard they tend to make the cruise overfuel , then backoff , then overfuel , and on , and on , and on . Well you get the idea .

i run 6's and cruise still runs smooth for me

dblake, it depends. On the 2001 and down trucks that had the mechanical cruise control it can be very obnoxious. My truck is an"01. 5" and has the electronic cruise. It works just fine with mach 4. 5's
