i just put gauges in a 2000 dodge diesel auto, i seem to only get 14 psi unloaded, and i pulled a alumiunm snowmobile trailer with 4 4 wheelers on it(like 3000 lbs total weight. ) i could only get 16 psi pulling some real good hills. i have no other mods done except for a k&n airfilter in stock box. egt was about 1200 on the long hill pulls. need some suggestions. i thought the normal boost for this truck was like 18 to 20 and i am below that. thanks for the help.

I've got a 2001 ETC,

and I would see 21lbs of boost when bone stock. I think the autos make slightly less, but I thought it was around 19lbs. Maybe someone has an idea of why the low boost?

I get 20 to 21 max. I don't have to be hauling my camper to get that either, i. e. just nail the throttle and she will peg 20 psi. I think you have a leak either where you put in your gauge or somewhere else or a bad wastegate. Try tracking it down.

18-19psi max before adding EZ and Boost elbow... 26-27psi max after EZ and boost elbow. Talked to Edge and they said these numbers are pretty much in line with their data for my stock setup.

numbers

Before DDTTM,elbow and muffler loss, 18-19 lbs. After DDTTM, elbow,K&N in stock box w/ extra holes and no muff- 28-29 lbs.

have their been known problems like this that could lead me to the wastegate being stuck a little bit. i'm pretty sure that all the connections are ok, used all the crush sleeves where i should. if i find it to be the waste gate, should i make a turnbuckle and put it on and adjust the boost to about 20 psi(any higher i know about the code) i'm gonna get another excat gauge like it and hook it up and see if it's not the gauge that is the problem. anymore ideas you knowledgeable guys. Jerre:rolleyes:

Boost ?

First check your gauge you can use a air compressor to check set to 20 psi use blower nozzle ,second check hose from turbo to intake . You should be able to make 18 to 20 stock , eng working ok except no full boost improper reading or air leak . location of tap in ? best on intake horn just after flat from round about four inches up from hose clamp area . Use soap water and brush to find leak could be small leak . Hope you find reason no boost ,lol Ron in LOUISVILLE KY:eek:   :D

What is your fuel pressure? Id check the lift pump also,if its starving for fuel,it will not make full boost/ power. Then id check every connection, especially the rubber boot on the drivers side under the battery, from the intercooler to the metal tube going to the intake,my 2000 had worn right thru the inner fender lip right there, seen a few others do it too, check it out.

18 - 19 psi max, unloaded + up steep grade (9% +/-) WOT stone stock except for loss of muffler. Check clamps & hoses.

thanks for the replys guys, found out that the gauge was 4 psi off. i wasn't actually low on boost at all. borrowed a new one and put it on quick and boom down the road to the floor and 19 psi it was. just have to buy a new gauge to match the pyrometer now. Oo. :)

If my gauge is correct and I am still reading 14 lbs. I have no leaks, what could I do. I can pinch the hose to get 24 lbs. Also, if it goes over 25 does it set the code that I can see. Should I just buy an boost module and get it over with?

I got 18-19 stock and the same w/EZ loaded or unloaded under WOT and no elbow cause with the auto I am hardlined. Now after modifying line I get 25-26 and top end is quite improved
