I made a mount and relocated my LP & filter. I'd like to get rid of the banjos everywhere possible - can't find the correct fittings to go to a barbed end. Only thing I can find that comes close are NPT threads and I'm not going to botch up everthing else to "make" them work. HELP? :{
you are talking about getting rid of the old set up completly and putting in a staight through inline system w/no banjo bolts----did i understand you right?
It will be one of the best moves you have ever made! Just make sure the fittings you buy have decent size center holes. The ones I bought had center holes only about 1/4 inch ID! I drilled out all fittings to a minimum of 5/16 ID... bigger where possible. It made a big difference in the fuel pressure! Even using the SAME lift pump! Those banjo bolts and the tiny fuel line from the filter to the VP are TERRIBLE!!!
Just be careful with the adaptors from Summit. Check the inside diameter of the fitting. I just bought fittings from Summit (12 x 1. 50-6 AN) and the inside diameter of the fitting was much smaller than a standard -6 AN fitting. I ended up ordering new fittings from source automotive and the inside was proper size.
Also you are going to need some kind of sealing washer for the metric side of fitting and they were not included from summit. I also got the washers from Source Automotive.
The Vulcan Big Line kit might be what you are looking for. I just ordered one a couple of days ago. Here's a place that has a write-up on it www.cumminsdatabase.com. Everybody I have read of that has one seems to like it. Do a search and you will find a lot of discussion about it.
That Vulcan setup is the way to go unless you have to have braided lines. I know that their couldn't possibly be a higher flowing set of straight through fittings than the Vulcan kit offers.
I run straight fittings and high pressure hose on my truck. I just installed a "T" in the hose a few inches from the VP. I run a section of hose up the brake booster line and mounted the fitting for my gauge up there. Works fine.
I run the scotty system, little pricer but well worth it, A tried an proven true system for many years now. You can buy direct thru the DTR website. My pressure drops to 11. 2 at WOT.
