Hello,I got a 1996 Ford F250 reg cab 4X4. It has a Powerstroke in it right now and is pretty hopped up,but I want more with less hassle. The engine blew at 153K and blew a head gasket at 161k,so this is another reason. I want to put a 94-98 12V in it,I heard these were the better year for the 12V. I need to know what I'll need,a engine of course :D ,and i want to keep my E4OD. I will appreicate any and all advice given. Thanks in advance :)

Going to www.fordcummins.com would help you out. They have conversion kits. They should be able to answer your questions. Could also send a PM to TDR member FordCummins (no affiliation with the above mentioned site).

He put a 12v in his '99 F350. Got a chance to ride in it last fall when he came up to help me install the bigger delivery valves. It is a sweet truck. :D

Good luck in the swap. Nice combo. :D

They really aren't that bad to do. Mine's a 95 F-350, but the basic install is the same. Roger at FordCummins.com helped me out a lot and he is really good to talk to. I can't comment on the auto because standard is the only way to drive :-laf .

Check out this site www.cummins-conversion.com it is dedicated to putting the Cummins in just about anything. There are a lot of people there that have done this or are in the process of doing it. Also give Randy at Reliable Diesel (480-325-6262) a call he has a lot of experience putting the Cummins on Fords, as does AutoWorld, both are good people to deal with.

Thanks again fellows for the links :) I need to get a list together of the need parts to convert over,so it can be done in a shorter amount of time. If y'all come up with some suggestions on what I should or differently please feel free to say.

I got a kit from Roger at Fordcummins.com and the thing bolted right in. I converted my F-250 from a gasser so I had a few extra parts to get, like a new radiator and core support. It was fun, I enjoyed working on it myself. The other sites metioned above are a great resource as well. I believe they make adapters for your e4od.

www.advanceadapters.com.

I had a 5sp in the truck and my donor had a 5sp, so I just threw in all the Dodge drivetrain. It was pretty simple really.

Anyway good luck, you will not regret it!

Thanks,JCrockett. I just got to get the engine and figure what I need. I also, need to give these guys listed a call and see what they say.

Still looking of a 12V anyone got one they can let go :D
Why don't you just go to cummins and get one. Or you can go to a reman company, or you can go to an agriculture equipment sale, the 5. 9 is a common powerplant for small machines. The 5. 9 is only rated for 150hp in most industrial applications. Except marine. Most small irrigation motors I see are 5. 9s, (or 3208 CAT) and they are easy to come by, and relatively cheap. :) I bet you could get one from Case IH for under $6,000 brand new... . They use a "non clutched" fan and a huge serpentine belt, so you'd have a unique monster. :-laf

SRoney, never thought about a agra engine :D I will have to look more into that one. But can they handle the same mods or be modded in the same way as the Dodge version?
