Hello everybody, is there an easy to cut out the lockup on a 95 CTD automatic without loosing the 4 gear od? I can use the od lockout but that cuts me back to 3 forward gears and I usualy need the fourth around town. I dont need the lockup except on the interstate, I get the darn shudders at low rpm's when the lockup is still engaged. The TSB has been addressed to no avail and I dont have the funds for a converter upgrade right now. A simple switch to cut out the lockup clutch engagement is all I need to make the beast a happy truck. Thanks for all the great help.

I know how on the older GM trans. did it on my restored 69 chevy I used to have. But I have now idea on my dodge. I would make city driving much nicer and smoother.

Here is the instructions on how to force the TCC to stay locked: http://www.tstproducts.com/tranny_install.html

That shows the wires you need to work with. I have mine setup so I can let the computer deal with it, force it to hold lockup, or force it to stay unlocked. In order to do it the way I have it, you need a double throw single pole toggle switch with center off. Cut the wire that the diagram on the above what it says to not cut. Connect the end that goes to the transmission to the center terminal on the switch. Connect the other end of the wire that goes to the PCM to one of the outer terminals on the switch. Connect a ground wire to the other outer terminal. If the switch is in the center the TCC will never lock. If the switch connects the ground to the transmission the TCC will not unlock. If the switch connects the PCM wire to the transmission lockup will be controlled by the PCM.

If you only want to prevent lockup install a switch so you can disconnect the wire from the PCM to the transmission.

Joe, the instructions say not for Cailf vehicles. Is there some way to have a lock up switch on a Ca. truck? I would like one for towing. Thanks

It screws up the EGR someway to use the switch and an exhaust brake. What you do about the EGR is up to you. I know some people you have replaced the manifolds with non-CA versions because of this problem.

Yeah, thanks Joe you just confirmed the route I was facing. Does anybody know of a cheap outlet for non-egr manifolds? I think I will go ATS on the exhaust just don't want to pay Banks price for the intake.

:{ The price we pay to live in the Golden State:mad:
