want to upgrade 04.5

I was wanting to run a straight 4'' from the cat back. If anybody has done this what did it sound like. I have heard that it won't be very loud do to that dang CAT. I hate that trotline weight under my truck. if so will doing this void my warranty. Also how long till they come out with a edge box or something for my 04. 5

I read somewhere in this forum or the TDR that the upgrade in the exhaust didn't much for improved HP... . and I'm sure that someone will correct me if I'm wrong..... I was under the impression that the 04. 5 had a 4" exhaust... .



If you talking about removing the cat... . I'd think again... in my home state it must be on the vehicle and must function when the vehicle goes through the emission test every 2 years.....



Today in my home state they can plug into OBDII port under the dash and tell if the cat is functioning... . without looking under the vehicle..... since its a high dollar item I would personally wouldn't be playing with it..... also if they find you've removed it and have run the vehicle they can fine you... ...



There are several ways to remove it..... remove its contents and put it back on the truck..... and take your chances.....

I'm pulling mine off next week. I intend to mount my aeroturbine where the cat is and then straight pipe back to a "Y" adapter and then on out the duals (Silverline). Everything all the way is 4". I'll let you know how it works about late next week.

Really? I was under the impression that the 04. 5 CAT doesn't have an O2 or any other sensor on it that would tell the OBDII anything. If it does have a sensor, how are you folks that are ripping out the CATs deal with it?

Telling if the cat is working is on cars with O2 sensors mounted behind the cat such as mustangs. They also make programmers for those cars to shut off the rear O2. Pulling the cat won't do a thing on our trucks trust me
