It's been a long time since I've seen anyone talk about the old van Aaken box. The original vA came out in 1999 and Ted Jannetty did a group buy on them with TDR members. I tried the vA one once on my '01 and compared to the Puck and especially the Edge EZ it was a lot smoother and drivable. Would love to get my hands on another one someday.

I fondly remember the smooth power my VA and 275's produced. That was the nicest my truck ever ran. I would switch back to that combo now if I could do it easily and not lose money. Things have really changed the older I get. lol

Anyone know if van Aaken still around, out of curiosity?

van Aaken is one of those words almost no one spells correctly . . . "van" is not capitalized ;)

No

Van Aaken went out of business, for whatever reason I don't know, 2 or 3 years ago. Otherwise, this post would not exist, as I would have purchased a new one.

that is my setup, see sig.

I heartily concur with how smooth it handles everything. A very nice package and I will not let mine go.

The package always seems to predict what gear the transmission needs to be in, and it just does what you need it to do.

I am so satisfied with mine. :)

I always found it amazing how popular the EZ boxes were when they were so crude in comparison. I think guys liked the "hit" they produced when you finally got up their powerband but the power curve was extremely peaky. That and for an HO there was too much timing advance, my '01 rattled something fierce.

there have been times when i was tempted to change out the va, but never did. it has given me all i need for towing my 5er, enclosed car hauler and flat hauler many miles. don't know what i'll do when it goes south. good luck finding one.
