I really want to add a sunroof to my quadcab and was wondering if I take it to the Dodge Dealer would It look and act like the ones from the factory. I really want the factory one. Did not ask or know about it when I bought my truck. Should have done more homework. Looking for help on this one. Like pesonal exp and such.

No and No they will not be the same I do not care what anyone says... I used to work for a dealer and the aftermarket instalation even though the same roof unit has the retrofited headliner which looks like crap and the add in switches look add in. The factory installation is just unbeatable from an clean install stand point.

I wanted to get a sunroof too, I am looking into the aftermarket for sunroofs. I personally think you can get a better deal if you take it to someone else other than a dealer. There are shops who do just this sort of thing. Prices are pretty reasonable but it depends on what kind of roof you are looking for (Manual, fully auto)

NO, NO, NO. Do NOT have a dealer install anything that should have been done at the factory. The "technicians" at the dealer are trained at repairs and maintenance. NOT installations.

I am currently going through "dealer installed" HELL after the salesman told me that they could easily install cruise control "in about 4 hours" on the CTD that we were looking at. We bought it based on that.

(how do you know a salesman is lying? His lips are moving) AND I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER.

Now after 5+ days (1 day at a time) of them installing all the parts- they do not look like "factory" at all- The control is a second stalk added to the left side, beneath the turn signal lever. The control module was installed under the hood over the fuse box- we cannot open the fuse box without bending the module mount out of the way. And this is the official Dodge kit for adding a cruise control at the dealership. It looks like JC Whitney with a bad install.

When I tried the CC, it surges 8 mph- about 4 mph high to 4 mph low every 4-5 seconds. After the 5th dealer visit, they have it stable over 60mph. But at 55mph or under, it continues to do the "whiplash surge". They suggested (according to the Corporate engineers) that I should use 5th gear with CC at 55 mph or below. BS. I should drop down a gear at 55 just to use cruise?

Fortunately, the dealership manager understands that I am REALLY upset and has offered to replace the truck with a new one that has factory installed CC.

After this short version of the "krap" that I am going through- DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT have the dealer install anything that the factory didn't. You have been warned. If you are still determined to do this, get in writing exactly what will be done, what it will look like and how it will work.

Good luck,

John

Well i guess I am not going to go to a dealer to get this done. Any Ideas where to get this done in Houston. Or what brand of sunroof to get. Want an automatic powered sunroof that goes between the roof and headliner.
