Need new batteries

Barring tool: Who's better,who's best?

First off, this is my first post so hello to everyone.

I have been wanting to beef up my transmission for a while. I'm not really partial to any one manufacturer, but I don't want to drop 5 or 6 large on one. I would like to keep modifications around $3500 if I can. I just want to know if it's worth doing if I'm not going to go all out. I don't really live near a good transmission shop, but I will be dangerously close to Suncoast on my vaction. :D Any suggestions or advice would be great as I really don't know what I'm getting into. Thanks, Ryan

Black mountain diesel is very close to you!!

They have experience in several brands, and are good people.

Thanks for the quick responses, I'm not used to that.

Given my estimates, I figure $1200 for the TC and $500 for the valve body. That leaves me about $1800 for labor and maybe a billet input shaft :-laf .

Obviously my best bet is to give them a call, but I want to know as much as I can before I take that step.

Do yourself a favor

The only way you can go wrong is by NOT calling DTT, Goerend Brother's, and Suncoast and talking to them about what you want and what they offer. Do not assume you can't afford a full tilt and Boogie transmission until you call all three ;) Different strokes for different folks but all solid as a rock from what I have read. I talked to all three before puttin up my cash. It was a very tough choice and I am very happy. Not sure I could have gone wrong to be honest. Have fun,a new trans will make you :D

Thats the truth, I intend to make the calls very soon. To be honest, I'm more worried about the installation then I am about anything else at this point. Thats why I'm leaning towards Suncoast since I will be near them. I know they all make quality stuff. Once I get this out of the way, then you guys can help me pick a new turbo. :D

Not to stick my nose in your business, but for the install I'd call Jeff at Garmon Diesel Performance. Jeff is very competent and he and Joe work very close together on the installs. I guess you could say they're good friend through the transmission buisness. For the money you're talkin about you can come out smelling like a rose. The only thing is coming down to McDonough, Georgia for the install. Then if you have and money left come across the parking lot and I can install the air ride and horns. You can get it all done here.

Preston,

That has been an option for me as well. I have heard that Jeff is the man. I'm not really sure where McDonough is or how far out of my way it would be. The logistics are going to play a big factor, because it will be cutting into my girlfriends vacation time. If I have it done at Suncoast, she can be on the beach while it is being done. If I could just find a muzzle for women it would solve all my problems.

i can get a female muzzle for you! i dont install them though and it comes with no warranty also intallation can cause bodily harm or even death. Death normally happens within 12 hours of installation usually occuring while asleep. ;)

square tabs last longer :)

Check it out. The guys know all the local ways to get your performance goodies.

Suncoast Vendor in California Ky. (between Cinci and Maysville)

DTT installers in Indiana (I think) and Sevierville Tn.

ATS in Indiana And Illinois. Or Florida- 11 hours drive but oh so sweet downtime.

Ryan,

I'm very happy with my DTT and they have great customer service. Chip's Transmission in Sevierville, TN is a certified DTT installer and is about a 3 hour drive down I-75. Steve@Freedom has also road in my DTT transmission truck and my SunCoast transmission truck so he can give you his opinion between the two.

I spoke with a DTT rep this afternoon. I'm leaning towards going down to Sevierville to have it done soon. I know both Steve and Chris are both very impressed with your truck. How long did it take Chip's to do your transmission?

Ryan,

Chip's had it done within a day. I drove down on a Monday night and they started on the truck early the next morning. I was on my way back by that afternoon. You will want to call ahead to make an appointment because they stay busy.
