My mother gave me a $25 WWII war bond that her mother had purchased in 1944. It is still in it's original sleeve from the bank where she purchased it.

I checked eBay and didn't find a single WWII war bond for sale. Plenty of posters, etc. - but no WWII war bonds.

Anyone out there have any idea what the bond would be worth to a collector?

The bank told my mother what it would be worth just from compounded interest, etc.

It is an interesting piece of history. My grandmother purchased the war bond for her son. He was shot down and killed over the English Channel a few months later.

I have no idea of what it would be worth, but I hope you're just price checking for curiosity's sake. I'd hate to sell a piece of family history like that.

I was wondering just for curiosity's sake. It's always interesting to know what someone else thinks an item is worth.

I was amazed that eBay didn't have any listed for sale. That is the first place I look to help determine a relative value.
