The severe sched. IS to change the oil at 7500 miles, so it does indeed sound like he's out to bend you over. Unless you are a california spec. truck, which I doubht since you show TX as your home. .
"Special model" - humm. . you think maybe that means "DIESEL"???? , g's where do they get these people.
I wonder, do they think that the engine oil lubes the lift pump? wow! thats a good one! Why the heck did oil changes even come up in talking with them about the lift pump?? Sounds like they are looking for ANY reason, however remote, to FU your warrente.
I know the grease monkeys that changed my oil at the dealer last time wrote that the next change was about 3500 miles away, but they only know where the oil and filter goes, and I just peal that sticker off and toss it away.
This is actually kind of a "pet peave" with me.
I usually change every 10K miles, which is not in the book anywhere, but its easyer for me to remember each time the ODO flips a 10K mile digit, than the other numbers. Besides, I feel that with the minimal amount of towing, I do, I am actually changeing about 5K miles early. Its also the same interval that VW recommends for oil changes in my TDI, so I only have to remember the one number!
I usually change the oil in my truck myself, but when it was due this time I was still recovering from a broken leg, and decided I didn't need the hassle.
I took 3 gallons of my favorite oil to the dealer and had them change it for me. I also took in some synth. oil for the diffs and transmission and had them do it at the same time, since it was there.
Sorry that I got off on a rant, when all I really wanted to say was, YES they don't know what they are up to, and they should be watched very carefully.
Drive ON!
