I have waay to much smoke on "cold weather" start-ups (ie below freezing temps. ), but have started to notice that warmer weather start-ups (around 60 degrees) are also smokey. I'm not seeing the freight-train smoke as on really cold mornings, but I am seeing more smoke than last year when it was new. The smoke lasts for about 2 minutes at idle.

I think the truck is just smoking more in general as I notice it more in my rearview mirror at night when a car is behind me. (and I'm going easy on the accellerator)

Injectors? Any thoughts?

I am having the exact same issue with mine. At 10* it smoked some, but at 50* or higher it is smoking a LOT. It's going into the dealer tomorrow to have it checked out. I am also getting what I think is an injector rattle under light load conditions. I notice it pulling the trailer slightly uphill just giving it enough fuel to maintain speed. Guess I see what they say. Probably nothing since I am at 32,000 miles...

I'm not having the smoke on start up problem but I sure have noticed my smoke stack in the back pumping out a lot more of the James Bond smoke screen with this warmer weather. I still had ok black smoke in the winter but warmer temps and air that isn't as dense sure makes a difference when you want to put on a smoke show :D Plus it's great for tailgators :-laf

I've had the flash, and still smoke.

I had it done a couple of months ago and the smoke went away. Now it's back worse than ever. I'm smokin up the neighborhood for a mile or so.

Dealer did the 007 reflash on mine to try and cure a "dead spot" in acceleration. Didn't do anything other than make more white smoke. Can the 037 reflash be done ove the top of the 007??

As for more black smoke in summer when starting out or shifting, yep it's a diesel, that's 110% normal. Wait 'til it gets up to 90*+, then you'll really see a puff. The cats seem to catch a lot of it, but it'll still be there.

Thanks for the replies. I had the TSB done last November. I've owned the truck almost a year now and so I've been through the cycle of warm and cold and the truck smokes more now than last year... .

Yes, its a diesel  and it isn't my first. My 01 was modified and puffed a small cloud of black smoke at start up but that was it... . now THAT was normal. It is very clear that the amount of smoke I'm seeing on startup in 60 degree weather is not normal at all... . its embarrassing and totally incongruent with the all the changes made to these motors to make them more environmentally friendly. Plus it didn't do it last year. I'm also hearing a louder rattle when it first starts up as well - while its smoking.

BStoecker, let us know how it goes at the dealership...

Newman's experience is what I think I'm seeing...
