Does anyone know if warn hubs can be installed to replace the auto hub vacuum control engagement. I use to own a 1971 Jeepster commando. When the hubs were locked, going into 4 wheel was immediate. I hate the slow responce of the 4x4 engagement on my Dodge. In very cold temp it takes to long to engage. I had the dealer check this out but was told this is normal. This auto hub invention belongs to the yuppies who don't want to get there feet wet to lock hubs.

I've never had a problem with the yuppie shifting as long as I take my foot off the throttle for a second after shifting into 4x. If you keep on it it won't shift until the trans is not under load.

Actually, there are no auto hubs on the Dodge. It uses a two piece axle on the right side and the engagement/disengagement occurs there.

Dynatrac makes three versions of a manual-hub conversion. The website is http://www.dynatrac.com. Be prepared for some serious sticker-shock.

There was a thread for the Dyantrac conversions awhile back in the products/acc forum. Try a search for Dynatrac.

Thanks Bob. I am from the old school of 4 wheel drive. They don't make them like they use to. They lost a good thing when they stopped making the closed oil bath universal joints and the gear to gear transfer cases. The younger generation does not know about that.
