I have not looked into this too much yet - but here it goes.

Can you put Warn Lock-out hubs on a 2002?

When I was comparing my dads 2001 2500 to my 2002, same trucks, same set-up... he gets on average 2 to 2. 5 miles per gallon better then mine. I came to the conclusion that his vaccum line disengages his entire axle while mine only does the trans. case. I figure with the extra fricition causes the decreased mpg...

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Nobody makes a kit that I know of. Dynatrac had one for the older 2nd gen, but I think there is complications with the abs stuff on the later model trucks.

Unfortunately, no.

I contacted Warn about a month ago with the very same question and they referred me to Dynatrac. Between the ABS on the '02 and the fact that there are relatively few units out there (compared to 94-01) they did not think that a kit would be made in the near future.

One possibility is a driveshaft disconnect. Someone had posted a link a few months back, though I no longer recall the company. IIRC it was going to be close to $1000 for the disconnect, which will buy a lot of diesel fuel.

In the next few weeks I will be replacing the diff & transfer case fluid with full synthetic - hopefully this will reduce some of the frictional losses and improve mileage

I agree, $1000 buys a lot of diesel! I plan to do the same too - replace the diff. fluid. I heard that amsoil works good, runs cooler and produces less friction. Not sure if that is true or not... but its cheaper then the driveshaft disconnect! :-laf
