I need a long hill

YES, another boring mpg post. Myself and some others a while back wondered what kind of milage could be had if we were brave enough to drive 55mph. Well, I was close and drove 57 mph from Houston to Dallas. I was passed by everything on the road. Although I was in the right hand lane, people still ran up behind me and tried to scare me. I averaged 28. 5 mpg, and had to take some Advil for my headache, when I was through. I WILL NOT TRY THIS STUNT AGAIN!!! It's 70-75 mph for me from now on.

Back in the days when 55 was the maximum speed limit a newspaper writer did a test driving 55 between Los Angeles and San Francisco. He said he only passed one car in 400 miles,it was billowing smoke. Besides getting passed by everyone on the road many people came up behind him and flashed their lights or honked. This was when the limit was 55,I can't imagine what it would be like now. Sdalton I have great respect for your patience,I couldn't do it then or now.

I tried to do the 55 mph test and got in trouble with Wild Bill from Canada when we were passed by a School Bus.

I have tried this on several occasions, but seem to creep upto 70 after a couple of miles. Guesss thats why I only get 13 mpg.

At 55mph my boost gauge doesn't even register! In the winter I must drive at least 60-65 to keep combustion temps up to safe levels and keep deposits from building up in the combustion chambers #ad

What's REALLY scary is that he was on the feeder road, and not the freeway! #ad

He had to be on the feeder road. All they do on the freeway in Houston is park.
