I have a 2000 CTD 3500 4x4 that the brake light keeps coming on and stays on all the time. My manuel says to check the parking brake release which I did. It stays on anyway. I dont have a service book for this truck. Can some one look up the symptoms in their book and post a remedy to look for? thanks, Moe.

Fluids fine , new brakes all around. Wondered if there might be some sensor either on the brakes or the antilock.

metering valve which proportions brake pressure front/rear usu. has a switch mounted on it. A leak or other pressure differential will set a signal that lights the brake light (but possibly NOT the ABS light). Look for a 'valve' with all the brake line piped to it and a harness connector attached. My feeble understanding (I'm not ASE) is that the metering valve ensures the rear brakes have taken a set (and can move no further) before raising (by diverting pedal pressure) to the fronts. Without this you'd be a 7000# Bolshoi ballerina!!

try jumping or disconnecting the emergency brake switch first( to eliminate it from the equation) then unhook batteries to reset any "codes" the truck may be seeing.
