My original factory liftpump died at 14,500 miles. I had the dealer replace it under warrantee. The replacement pump's output was about 2# less than the original, about 14# idle, 12# steady running, around 10# @WOT. But otherwise fine. [I don't know the part #'s]
Well yesterday morning the replacement pump died, with only 18,400 miles on the truck. So the replacement was good for only 3900 miles!! The pressure started to wander all over the gauge, then fell off to zero. No performance changes from the engine. The pump is running, just doesn't make any pressure.
So: a warning to those who check their fuel pressure only occasionally with a mechanical screw on gauge, this may not be often enough. [Although any check is better than none. ]
I thought that the replacement pump was good for 10K miles at least, so I was procrastinating about installing my pusher pump. Needless to say, I installed it yesterday afternoon.
[With the Ostrich approach, ever notice which part of the anatomy is up in the air?]
I still haven't decided whether to go back to the dealer to get the pump warranteed. Anybody know if the pumps are still on back order?
Good Luck!! Greg L
