If it were mine I would change the oil at a shop so you have a receipt, reset the oil life monitor, and do another sample at 3,000 miles. Then it should have about 3.5% which is getting near when it should be changed. Save the receipts and oil sample and show the dealer again. On a 2012 depending on your duty cycle it can load the crankcase up with fuel from active regenerations. It may be perfectly normal.
And don't worry, 7% isn't going to ruin the engine. The early 2007.5's would turn the oil change light on around 5% (verified by oil sample) on most trucks.
