My pump has been acting up(02 with 60,000)-all the usual plus the 0216 code. First dealer replaced the lift pump under warranty and cleared codes. Did not solve anything, engine "flashes/pulsates",pedal goes dead after cruising at 2000rpm +- for 1/2 to 3/4 hr, sometimes dead pedal on start-up after sitting overnite, sometimes no acceleration or very, very slow,if stab the throttle the engine will stumble and miss plus put out white smoke. Went back to first dealer but diesel mechanic had moved on and dealer could not work on truck. Went to second dealer, explained everything. He drove truck for 45 minutes and could not duplicate problem (which is probably true), changed the air filter and fuel filter, charge me $341 and said if it does it again to bring it back. I picked the truck up after hrs. and it went dead pedal in front of his lot, only it was Sat. evening and noone was there. Got it home, checked codes and the 0216 was back.

My question: Is it true that Chrysler will not warranty the injector pump if they cannot duplicate the symtons? I cannot afford to keep having them charge $80 hr. to drive it around and tell me nothing is wrong.

Definitely not, I'd try to find a different dealership to warranty it. The one I took it too just saw the 0216 code, did a flow test on the lift pump and replaced both the lift pump and injection pump no questions asked. They only put 1. 5 miles on it, so I'm sure that wasn't enough time to duplicate the symptoms cause it only gave me dead pedal like a once a week or so.

I just brought my 01' 2500 w/63,000 in for the 0216 code and they replaced both the lift pump and injector pump. My problem is they charged me for the lift pump and told me it was not covered under warranty and I was lucky the expensive pump was.

I've called 3 other dealers and two were going to get back to me on this but they felt it should be covered while the third ran my VIN and told me is was covered.

Has anyone else had their lift pump covered by warranty?

By the way they charged me $450 for that and a fuel filter change.

Mine was replaced at 46K. Dropped it off at the dealer and by the time I got home (1/2hr drive) there was a message that the VP had an internal failure and that it would be replaced under warranty, the 0216 code is like the death code. All the same symptoms as your truck.

Hope this helps,

J-
