I bought my 2011 2500 6.7 in the February of 2012. The original owner had it 7 months (9400 miles) and traded it on an Acura in Boise Id. I was going to buy/order a '12 but I found this one and it was exactly what I wanted for a great price.

I brought my truck back to Sacramento and I've had it serviced at Swift Dodge in Davis Ca exclusively for nearly 4 years. When the warranty was about to expire the service guy I usually work with suggested the Chrysler extended warranty which I bought and now have warranty until 2019 and 120,000 miles.

Check engine light came on last week and I took it in….bad O2 sensor…on back order. While I'm waiting some guy (service manager I think) from the service dept.comes out and asked me if I used a "chip" or did any "flashes". I haven't and I told him that. He told me there had been 4 flashes on it and he had to report it to Chrysler.

I've never done anything but drive and enjoy the truck but maybe the guy in Idaho did something to it. And why, after I've been bringing my truck to them since 2012, is this an issue? They guy seemed to be accusing me some hanky panky and it ****** me off.

Anyone know the rules about stuff like this? There's never been any questions asked about this stuff and I have had the truck in their shop for some recalls, routine service and a few other problems.

I appreciate anyones input.

Mike

They can and will deny warranty claims for an unusual number of flashes. 4 doesn't sound unusual but that's how they catch owners using programmer modules. I had a problem on my 2011 and that was the first thing they looked for. The service manager is just being an ***** for reporting 4 flashes on a five year old truck. My current truck is a 15 and it has had two already. Apparently, your 4 aren't documented anywhere in the system.

Thanks Alan. I guess I'll ride it out and see what comes. I would hope that if something blows up unrelated to the flash thing would be covered. I don't usually buy used and this is one of the reasons…live and learn.

Before changing out 02 sensors there is a tsb
25-002-14 that should be performed. This involves adding an overlay harness that ensures no voltage drops in the 02 module and sensor circuits. The 02 sensors can also be removed and cleaned

Thanks Bob4x4 I'll ask if that's been done. I'm just back home from a 1200 mile trip and the CEL extinguished, came back on for a few days then went off again. I guessing there's no code now. I'll check with a service writer I've known for several years and see if he can help me out with checking on that TSB.

Hey Bob the CEL lights comes on but never stay on long enough for me to get to the dealer before it goes out. I'm on another road trip to Nevada at the moment. The light came on as I was leaving Sacramento today and this evening it's off again! Does that sound like it's related to the TSB you mentioned above? Or does that symptom bring any other thoughts to mind?

The lights do not have to be on,the dtc will be stored and there will usually be freeze frame data stored.Make sure the software is up to date as well as the applicable tsb's.The o2 sensor ckts use very little amperage any voltage drop makes for an issue.
