I am posting this question for a friend that has an o2 ctd with a auto trans. She is need of more power for towing and would be very happy with something along the lines of an edge ez or power puck. She called our local dealer and asked how adding one of these mild performance boxes would affect her warranty and they replied, warranty both engine and drivetrain will be void. Is this the correct dealer response? Is it true that codes would be stored so they could tell if she had added performance enhancements? Could she upgrade with say some 275's for some additional power that would be unnoticed by the dealer? I am my own warranty station but I would like to give her accurate info. Thanks for any insight.

I'm not sure on what dc says about the warranty, but i really to think that it is the dealers choice. I have a bullydog box and their 120 horse injectors and my dealer still warranties my truck. One of the differences may be that i bought them from the dealer and had they install them. My dealer has be good for warranty stuff, as for the injectors i don't really know how they could tell if their in there and as for codes i think i have heard of that before but i'm not certain. I'm sure someone will chime in and be more clearer than i am. Corey

I put the Banks system on my truck also the brake, and no dealer will honor my warranty. I just blew the transmission. I'm looking at $4,000 out of pocket.

on the 02 like mine they got anal and painted a white line on the injector lines connection to the head so they could tell if the lines had been removed to install the injectors, run some 275's and be damn careful to not scuff up the nuts, remove the paint and repaint your own damn line, hell run an EZ also... .

How about the super chips micro tuner. I have a lot of friends with power strokes that are running these. Simply remove programming before going to dealer, then reinstall afterwards. Any thoughts?

I agree, go with the EZ, but do not mount it on top of the fuse box like they tell you..... be creative.

You can disconnect the batteries overnight to remove any stored codes.

I found this information on the EDGE Products web page cause I am looking at there computer upgrade:

Q: WILL INSTALLING THE DODGE COMP VOID MY FACTORY WARRANTY?

A:

No. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty-Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975, aftermarket equipment, which improves performance, does not void a vehicle¹s manufacturer original warranty (unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle¹s warranty, or if the aftermarket devise is the direct cause of the failure). The easiest way to check is to look in your owner¹s manual under ³what is not covered². It is recommended that you remove the module before any service work is performed. Leaving he product installed may affect dealer diagnostic analysis and scan tool functions.

OK, nobody's said it until now, so I will:

The BOMBer's mantra:

I am my own warranty station.

One should learn it well before starting down this slippery slope!

The dealer will one way or another tell you to go to **** on warranty issues if they find modifications involving power or suspension, for the most part. I know there are dealers that could care less and I wish more of them existed.
