Could you guys answer me a question for a friend of mine that has a 2001 3500 he bought it used with 22,000 miles it has 35,xxx now and he has injection pump problems, dealerships are trying to say he is out of warranty. Arent theose 5 year 100,000 mile on injection and lift pumps? Thanks

Did he transfer the warranty when he purchased it? When I bought my 1993 used, I had to pay a small fee to transfer the warranty. And yes the injector pump should be covered by the extended engine warranty. SNOKING

the Cummins warranty is 5years or 100,000 miles and there should be now worry about warranty transfer.

tell your friend to go to another dealer

Agree with Bob - If the dealer is trying to get out of the job saying it's not covered your friend is better off going to another dealer that knows how to treat it';s customers. All he should have to do is report to the dealer he has a problem and there shouldn't be need to mention that he wasn't the first owner. The 100k/5yr is covered and covers engine related accessories too, LP, VP, turbo etc.

I also was under the impression that the 5/100,000 warranty followed the TRUCK not the OWNER. Hopefully they will treat him right.

I just went through the owners papers on my 2001. 5 and there is nothing about having to transfer warranty. There are two green cards for address change that say:

IMPORTANT:

-To owner with a new address or Used-Vehicle Buyer -

-Complete and mail for accuracy of our records-

I disagree, Joe Mc. The dealer isn't trying to get out of repairing it. He's just trying to get paid twice for the job.

warranty

The last time I talked to Chrysler customer service about warranty and transferring it... they told me that the truck can be titled twice and still be covered... . the third owner is S. O. L. This was 4yrs. or so ago... so maybe they have changed their policy by now. Call the 800 # in the back of your manual to get the real untold story to be safe. Maybe if you are feeling friskey you could ask them if they know anything about the #53 blocks!!!
