I had some questions about the motor warranty that i was hope you all could answer, 1. i am going down tomorrow to have the muffler taken off and strait pipe put in, does the void the warranty? 2. i want to put a K and N filter in, does this void the warranty? 3. this question has nothing to do with the warranty but i was just wondering if a set of simulaters off a 2000 dully would fit on my 99?

Question #1... NO,my dealer is very strick about warranty and said that all that will do is void the warranty on the exhaust system and not anything else on the truck. I dunno about the rest.

Take the flex tube from the air box off at the turbo. Look just inside the opening and you will see a groove with a retaining ring holding a shallow, funnel shaped piece of metal (silencer) in behind it. Take a couple of small, flat bladed screw drivers and while lifting the retainer ring with one, insert the other ahead of it and work your way around until you get it out. Then all you've got to do is pull out the silencer and reattach your air intake hose. BTW, a Psychotty Air system will greatly enhance that turbo whine if you really like it #ad

K&N filters do not void warranties, my dealer even seels them. And as somebody alse stated, taking out the muffler will void your exhaust warranty, thats all. The general rule is, whatever you modify will void that item from your warranty and even that is not always the case, my friend Put a cat back flowmaster exhaust in Camaro and a year later his y pipe rotted and they replaced it, uder warrnaty even though he modified the exhaust. Just depends on the dealer and how nice they are. Also, they have to prove that what you did caused the problem. If you change you exhaust and then your turbo blows up, i am sure they will TRY and say the exhaust caused it, but they have to PROVE it did, tell them good luck.

If DC voids your warranty they will tell you good luck in trying to get it back. My dealer was real nice about after market add ons until my truck started developing problems then they voided my warranty on the whole truck and used the after market parts as their excusse. You could always take DC to court (good luck they have billions to fight you with). Only do modifying that DC can not detect. Think about it, your dealer is not going to lose his multi million dollar franchise on your pidly investment no matter how many times you have bought from them.....

My local 5* dealer sells and installs a 'SpeedWay' fueling box (Van Acken). The owner has even put one on a Showroom RAM 24V ISB! He says it will go 'sideways' WOT!
He 'loves' aftermarket stuff. I just hope he doesn't void my warranty #ad

HossDiesel,

Put the K&N on and you'll hear more whistle, take the silencer ring out and you'll hear more yet! Just remember when you
take off that flex hose you'll see the turbo blade and you have to look for the 'ring' running around the inside of the housing, you
have to look for it. Once you identify the
retainer ring that holds it in you should be able to take it from there (take it off!) and enjoy!

You can also do a search of all forums, archives/90 days and you'll find a ton of info on the subject, I even found one that had 'before' and 'after' pics that spoke a thousand words, sorry but can't remember or find the thread right now. Search by 'Silencer Ring' (without the apostrophes). Good luck.

You should do a search on the K & N. I have one (K&N), and I read some stuff on it in this site which I didn't like. (It doesn't filter as well as even the stock filter) I put the K & N back in the box, and put the stock filter back on. . . .

Be weary. Warranty is up to the dealer. The Federal Emmisions Laws give the manufacturer the right to void the warranty on your vehicle if you change or modify any emmisions equipment. This includes sound emmisions. (i. e. muffler - air filter - silencer ring) Read you owners manual and warranty manual carefully... ... .
