I was wondering what everybody's opinion of the warranty upgrades that dodge sends out?Anybody bought it,Anybody had any dealings with using it yet?Just wondering if it would be money well spent or something i don't really need in the first place.

I have mixed feelings on this one... I have purchased the extended warranty from DC at the time of purchase for the last two CTD's. I have NEVER had to use it!! So it turned out as $$$$ down the drain (1,000). Most of the KEY parts for the cummins engine are covered to 100,000 and the engine has a maticulous track record. But I went ahead and bought the 70,000 Bumper to Bumper coverage on my new 04. 5. THat way electricals, and all other little parts are covered to 70,000 not just the powertrain!

I bought the 7 year 100,000 mile $100 ded. maximum care plan (or whatever they call it). I paid $1995 from the dealer when I bought the truck and rolled it into the deal. If I never use it, I'll still be happy.

Truthfully I don't think many on this forum keep their trucks long enough to ever need the extended warranty. Funny how everyone boost about the power and longevity of the Cummins, but very few keep them long enough to ever benefit from it????

On the warrant issue, I would keep the papers on it, but not pay for it right away. You can take the coverage out at any time before the original warranty expires, so whats the hurry? I would see how things go, if you decide to keep the truck, and if you think there might be a need for the extra coverage later on, then go for it, no sense spending the money now.

When I bought my 2004, the dealer sold me a 100,000-mile extended warranty with the agreement that if I didn't ever need it by 100,000 miles, I would get a refund for the entire $1200--and I have it in writing. Never heard of this deal before.
