Warranty -vs- Service Contract

It's pretty much a given that if you mod your truck and that mod causes a part failure that the factory warranty will not cover the damage HOWEVER what if you pony up the extra bucks for a Service Contract when you buy your truck? Are those at all different when it comes to customer installed accessories/modifications?

My extended contract is the Chrysler 7 year 100k zero deduct. I would suspect that the chances of them covering a failure due to a mod is unlikely. Just my own opinion.
