Has anyone had issue w/cummings dodge warranty on the 06 models?.

I was informed this morning that if i change any component on the 06 dodge will not honor warranty it will be voided.

I f i was off road and tore the exhaust and replaced it with a (NON MORPAR) part the warranty will be voided. This includes a cold air pack for intake or any thing related.

This I do believe is against the law.

Anyone know for sure

my dealer told me if i changed any factory part with an aftermarket part and the aftermarket part was the cause of a faliure then just that part of the warranty was void... .

Quit guessing and read your warranty book that came with your truck. Non factory parts are not covered, and any failure they cause is also not covered. PERIOD.

They can't void warranty (except on the factory part you replaced with an aftermarket part) until there is a failure, and the failure is the result of the aftermarket part.

You guys are right... legally they can't just arbitrarily void the entire warranty.

Unfortunately, some dealers aren't worried about "legally". There are no warranty police that will come give them a fine for doing it. If the dealer does it, it will be your responsiblilty to prove they did wrong. You will be in for a long and expensive legal battle.

I'll say it again... FIND ANOTHER DEALER!!!

Bob

They also have to prove that the aftermarket part was the cause of the failure of another part. Do a search on "Magnussen Act", I believe, and you should find a ton of reading here on TDR. Someone correct me if I misspelled or used the wrong word. Warranties are a PIA.

Additional Warranty

the answer to find another dealer is a good one. However this information came from the factory rep. who covers all my dealers. And if the rep says not covered the dealer won't touch it witha 10' pole.

The service manager said the want only purcahse Mopar Parts.

I guess i will have to fight it out with them when the time comes.

Thanks all.

Isn't it true that if they require a factory part to retain the warranty that they must give you that part? Meaning as long as you replace things with a stock equivalent, then they can't void the warranty. Hence the reason that they can't tell you what brand of oil/filters/spark plugs(gassers) to use in the vehicle. Maybe that only applies to normal maintenance items?

Obviously in the scenario listed (mangled up exhaust) the part was damaged and was not covered under warranty so it is replaced. Now they won't warranty the exhaust but they have to warranty any failure that is not exhaust related, as AMink said.

Sounds like you're gonna need a lawyer if you ever need warranty work. That ain't right.

Change the muffler. EGTs go down. Injector goes bad, leaks into crankcase, and takes out the bottom end. Dealer says that injector carboned up causing it to leak because EGTs were too low due to aftermarket muffler. Farfetched? Not in the minds of DC.

Sad but true - will have to get a lawyer to get any warranty work done at that dealer even after changing a fuse.
