Off Roading 97 Dodge 2500 5 inch Superlift

No TQ reading because the shop has no optical pickup,, yet.

I'll have to make a correction,, it was only 446. 08 (Bad ego, Bad!)

EGT's were about 1,200 untill about 20PSI, then 1,400 untill the truck started really coming on hard at 2,200RPM. After 2,200RPM it was about 1,600*, and around 2,700RPM it was around/over 1,700* (My gauge only goes to 1,600, so could it possibly be more? :-laf )

I was pegging my 35Lb boost gauge, so my boost maybe was 40PSI? I need a bigger gauge.

Either my injection pump is out, or my FASS isn't keeping up. I'll be getting a mech. fuel gauge rigged up sense my electrical one crapped out.

The truck was runing horrible above 2,,300-2,400. Missing, and backfiring, showing 75HP swings in the dyno chart, and 200* swings in the EGT.

I made a couple less HP without my aifilter? Go figure.

Max HP was with my Drag COMP, and SuperChips tuner,, although the timing rattle was pretty wild running up through the gears.

Video's coming soon.

I figure my o-rings and head studs would help my headgasket from mimicking "Rice Krispie's".

On the other hand,, the truck seemed to be running real strong, and the dyno was available... :D

I had an HX-55 on there, but, too much machining away of the exhaust housing, and too big of wheels wouldn't let it spool above 25PSI, so, I popped on a Stock HX-35/12 which a friend lent me, and headed out to the dyno.

There was one time when I coulda swore the turbo was going to come apart! Guess luck was with me that day, LOL.

I'll be getting an HT3B to stuff under the hood, and I have a 14cm housing to put on MY HX-35 when the rest of the doodad's to mount the HT3B show up.

Just earlier today the truck wants to stall real easy, and I lost all power for a second at 1,200RPM. Plus it has to crank 4-5 times when cold, and alot more when hot to start. ARGGHH< I could have done a P-Pump swap allready! VP44 #5 is dead.

Yah, Greg has stopped by before, I've also bumped into him at a Gas Station between here and San Antonio.

I know there is more HP in there...

Just on the way back from lunch right now, I went to stomp on it,,, just to to get from Point A to point B a little quicker, ya know,, :D ,,, and it started missing for a bit,, sounded either like a 12V with too much fuel, or nitrous coming in a little to early. Something like FireCrackers in the stacks. It only lasted maybe 1/2 second, but it's exactly what I was feeling on the dyno at that RPM, except only for milliseconds at a time.

Time to double check connections, and then when the $,$$$. $$ comes in, get a Bling-Bling HRVP44.

I wonder if I can break 510RWHP on a stock turbo? ;)

Merrick

Found out a big prolem. Low Fuel pressure.

My Fass is putting out 8PSI at idle :( . I'm gonna give Brad a call and get thet pressure bumped up to 20-25PSI, then back on the dyno...

Pls ... pls ... pls ... digital pic of the pyro guage.

Anyone got a 2 kilo-degree guage that can be overnighted?

Forrest

I'll get them to run the camera in the truck, pointing at the tach, boost, and pyro during the run. :)

Lets just say, when the truck cut out for a second, the EGT's pulled back to 1,600. :p

I think it's all the electronic tuning making the truck act all funny on the bottom end (<800 RPM)

Mad ECM, SuperChips tuner, and a Drag Comp.

Merrick

Nice number, Merrick.

But, re read threads about "I burned up my engine. "

Get a real turbo on that Ram!

I got one from Sickly that would be big enough ;)

Just a thought... ... if your using the Superchips tuner, doesn't that replace the "program" in the MAD ECM with their own? Since it stores the "stock" program in the tuner... ... ... ... did you try it without the tuner at all?

(Note to self: NEVER lend a turbo to Merrick-- Even for a few minutes. :-laf )

Eric, I'm not sure. it must modify the current programming as it picked up more HP over the Mad ECM. The truck still feels like it has a MAD ECM, not like a Superchip tuned OE ECM. I do have the charts for all the runs, just not with me.

The truck drives really bad under 1,000RPM. To take off from stop lights I have to bring it up to 1,100RPM, and ride the clutch out,, even in 1st gear. The low speed governor is nearly non-exsistent, and too quick to respond when it does.

As far as having a stock turbo on,,, it's only temporary until J. R. gets done with my twin turbos. A 14cm'd '35 with a 22cm'd 3B. Spool-up is the word of the day for my twins.

Tuesday or Wednesday I should have some new dyno numbers for yall.

Merrick

Some new numbers for yall.

Dyno'd a few more times since my last post here. :-laf (Like 20 :) )

Most of my dyno runs were around 420RWHP. I could consistently run 420RWHP, some runs were 416, some were 440.

Bolted on a set of JR's twin turbos, using an HX-35/12 and a 3B/22, I picked up my RWHP to 546RWHP, and pulled my EGT's back to 1450 (almost 300*)
