Well I finally found the time to replace my injection pump this afternoon. It actually went fine, took about 3-4 hours. I did find that the rear support bracket on the pump was broken per someones speculation. And this person said that if you don't repair the bracket, you will lose your pump again. Not sure why, but this adds another possibility of why these pumps on the early 98. 5-2000 trucks are failing at odd mileage. But anyone considering doing it shouldn't be concerned if you have a modicum of mechanical knowledge. Everyone here was a huge help. And one more point, I never had the dreaded 0216 pump code, so who knows. It is running like a top again, hope it lasts.

Congrats on solving the problem, David. Where did you source your pump, looks like I may be headed down the same road! Jim G

Jim, I went to Midwest injection. Someone here suggested them, the price was right under $1100 and they give you 30 days to return your old pump, after that they will charge your card the $400 core charge. Go ahead and do it before your truck strands you somewhere.
