I have an early 600 that pings at low rpm. From what I heard at the time, it was normal. I drove a later 600 this past weekend and it did not ping at all. Has anyone looked into this?

I have taken mine to 2 seperate dealer service centers and both say it is normal - don't worry about it - i ask why is it normal for my truck and not other "600"s? i get the "i don't know response"(if they don't know - how can they say its normal to begin with?). Sounds like a tired old gasser going uphill. Sure would like for it to be cleared up

Mine stopped doing it after about 1000 miles, which is about when I started using Power Service fuel treatment. Some members speculate that the fuel treatment may eliminate the pinging. In any case, I think it's normal.

I got the pinging too. Also I can here a slight knocking comming from eng at idle while I was outside the truck. Maybe thats where my mpg's are going.

i have over11,000 on mine now. it has had the ping since day one. ite kind of a mutt also. took it to the dealer again last week but they say nothing wrong as expected. mileage still sucks. you guys see the posts about some say 20-25 mpg TOWING?? yea, rite.

Have any of you taken it to a Cummins dealer instead of the Dodge dealer? I would expect them to know better what might be causing it and if it's normal.

I think the engine pinging is caused by the type of fuel I use. Some tanks it pings others it does not. When It does ping I guess I'm used to it now!
