stabilizer

I knew mine was out when I noticed it leaking oil. Funny thing was, I had also noticed a steering pull to the right developing, I never thought they were connected but when I replaced the stabilizer the pull went away. I probably had as much trouble as Sled Puller getting mine out. It was bad! Heat, pickle fork, tie rod puller    Yes, NAPA does offer a stabilizer, too.

As would the correct tapered pin that holds it to the drag link. I pulled mine today, opened the Rancho RS5404 box and found the pin for the drag link was NOT tapered. OOPS.

I put the original back on and now I need to find a way to get the tapered pin out of the original, or order one, or... .

Any help guys?

Thanks in advance. My '99 Ram did NOT pose this problem.

Duane,

Good luck finding a direct replacement aftermarket stabilizer for your rig. When my wife fell in a hole and bent my OEM stabilizer a few months ago, I checked all the major aftermarket manufacturers, and no one had a stabilizer that would fit. The tapered pin is different on the newer trucks, and unless something has changed since I was looking, you will have to go with another OEM part, or find a way to remove and reuse the tapered pin from your original part. I was in a hurry, and just coughed up the $100 bucks at the dealer.

went down and bought a SS at discount auto. also spent $9 on a pitman arm puller. worth the $9!! the SS popped right out after cranking down hard on it. put in the new one and WOW! what a difference. it feels A LOT tighter now. thanks for all of the help.
