:-{} Went to the A number one dealer and needed a washer for the oil drain plug and they said it would be an $8. 00 investment. I just about had a stroke and just stared at the guy. He said that what I get for having a diesel, "You know their stuff is expensive. " Would NAPA have this? :--)

NAPA may have it, but I am not sure. I think I paid 7. 00 for my last one at the dealer.

What happened to yours, I have 5 or 6 oils changes on mine with no problems.

My 2001. 5 takes CUMMINS PART #3923096.

I get them from the cummins dealer for much less than $8.

I am guessing you went to a dodge dealer. check a cummins dealer if you have one closeby.

for 19. 50 you could get one of the heavy duty plugs from genos that comes with a new gasket ;)

I changed both mine for the plugs from genos... love em.

Nothing has gone wrong with the washer..... yet. Just a precaution b/c they flatten out and change shape. Just and anal retentive thing I guess. DVR thanks for the info.

I have been changing my oil for over 100k(30+ oil changes) and never had a problem with that washer leaking, or even with cracking the plug. Just do not over tighten the drain plug, make it a little more than snug and you will be fine.
