Loretta,

Your directions are correct when you are getting off the east bound ramp for Jefferson Avenue (I think exit 14).

I would like to add the following: Using the west bound ramp for Jefferson Avenue is a little different. At the bottom of the ramp, turn right. At the second light, turn right onto Jefferson. At the next light, turn right. From there follow the previous direction ("Go to 1st. light (@ 1 mile) turn R. Go @ 1/2 mile to stop sign; turn L. Cross over RR tracks and go through narrow bridge; turn L into fairgrounds. ").

Here are a couple of driving tips I can offer. The west bound exit is short, downhill ramp with a 90 degree bend. Take it slow and watch for traffic that might be backed up to the highway. The entrance gate to the fair grounds will be about 75 feet after you cross the narrow bridge.

Folks coming from the south (morgantown, WV) on Int. 79 need to go west when they reach Int. 70 and follow the directions for the west bound Jefferson Avenue Exit.

For those coming out of the north (pittsburgh), I would recommend the following: Get off Int 79 at exit 41. At the end of the ramp, turn right. At the first light, turn left. At the next light, turn right. At the stop sign, turn right. Follow the main road about 3 miles. Cross the RR tracks and the gate will be on your right, just before the narrow bridge.

From my personal experiences of hauling into fairgrounds for tractor pulls, I know how frustrating it is to get lost and how it wrecks the night. If anyone has any questions on the directions, feel free to ask. Using my work email, -- email address removed -- is the best way. Eric

Eric,

Thanks for the update on the directions. I couldn't remember how to get in, Mr. Cowden gave me the directions I posted.

Gene,

The gate I mentioned is where the trucks will enter the track. The parking for spectators will be just before the fair grounds. A electronic road sign welcoming you to the fair is near the entrance to the main parking lot, which will be on your right. Just be careful when turning into the parking lot because it is not the greatest place to put an entrance. You will see what I mean.

As for track conditions, we had a hard 10 minute rain about 7pm last night. The weather forecast for today is a high of 90 and a chance of thunderstorms (probably just to cover the weatherman's butt). The track is a clay track that had a bunch of top soil mixed in this year. Tonight they are running diesel pickups and smoker tractors.

Hope eveyone has a safe trip. Eric

Eric, I assumed that when I read it, and yes, that is very tricky. good place to get slammed.

Dave Mitchell won, with a surprisingly light foot tonight.

Powersnorters Ford got second, another drugg sniffy Ferd got third, but died right there, then the rest of the Cummins.

A lot of guys blew right through the track, I mean they moved some dirt!

Pretty nice pull.

Gene

Glad to hear you made it alright Gene. They need to close that entrance and use the one about 100 yards up the side road.

I didn't get to see the 4X4 trucks run. I had to stay out in the parking lot to help people on the hay ride. I only got to see a couple of 2wd trucks and some tractors pull so thanks for the finals list. I did see the Mitchell's when they were loaded and rolling out the gate. One of these days I will get to see them run down the track. Take Care. Eric
