2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission wastach F.P guage install help

i'm pulling my hair out!

i am installind a wastach 16lb F. P guage and lost the install directions! could somone give me a quick overview where the wires go? there is a green,red and black at the guage and nothing at the sending unit. one post on the sending unit must be a ground and the other a power and sending wire? please help... thanks... . james

James, the 12V+ goes to #4 on the guage,the ground goes to #5,and according to the instructions,the ground is run from the sender terminal #2,to the guage,and it shows it being grounded at the sender side off terminal #2 to a ground in the engine compartment. It says to ground it directly to the terminal post#2. The green wire goes from #2 on the guage to the term#1 on the sender. On my dad;s truck the sender didnt have markings as to which terminal was #1 and #2,we wired it backwards first time,didnt hurt anything,just switched term 1,and 2 at the sender,and its been working fine ever since,over a yr ago. RAMHEAD3437... My fuel pressure gauge is a Westach and I have to disconnect the wires every time I change the fuel filter because of where I mounted the sender. I try to remember which post to put the wires back on, but it has always worked regardless.

Bottom line is, I don't think it matters which way they are connected. If it don't work switch them.

The sender is a variable resistor and is not polarized. Neither terminal of the sender is grounded to the case. One terminal on the sender is connected to ground and pin #5 on the meter. The other terminal on the sender is connected to pin #2 on the meter.



Pin #4 on the meter is hooked to a key-on source of 12 volts.
