I assume you realize that you need to change the downpipe for the HX-40. Give Peirs a call, he knows anything and everything about those turbos.
 
Yep!

I am aware that you have to switch to an HX40 down pipe. Now what are the advantages and disadvantages of waste gated and none waste gated turbos.
 
A wastegate allows you to run a turbo without pushing the turbo too hard, without making more boost than the turbo can handle efficently or safely. Unmodified HX40's have a bad history of coming apart when boost is run too high.
 
Peirs puts wastegates on all his HX-40s so they will be reliable. I would run the wastegate as I don't think you would gain enough to warrant the loss in reliability.
