I got a close look at my turbo's wastegate actuator and it's not looking too healthy. Corrosion setting in on this part also. . :{. Where might be the best place to pick up a new one? I'm hoping the dealer is not my only option here & I'm also hoping I'm not told I need to replace the whole turbo assembly as a unit. .... ... Info on this anyone? Thanks!... ... ... ..... Mike

Dealer doesn't service parts, only the complete turbo. Contact HTT, II, or BD. One of them should be able to set you up with a replacement.

The actuators are available from the dealers for the 2nd gens but I imagine they would be cheaper directly from a Holset dealer. Many fuel shops also deal in turbos

Part number still good, this is from my '94. I really need your serial number (either truck or engine) to verify.

Pricing does not come up so I would have to call my Cummins distributor for details.

Am off for out-patient surgery tomorrow morning but will check back Thursday or Friday to see if you want me to pursue this for you. .

From Cummins iirc they come with a preset adjustment for your cpl

Bob, this one you are referring to is the one Mike mentions above? From Cummins?

I was in the middle of replying to this last night when my battery died (laptop). I just replaced my actuator with an AFE unit from XDP. It was $153 delivered to my door, and also adjustable.

However, I don't know if someone put the wrong part in the box, or perhaps I've got an oddball turbo or bracket, but I had to shorten the rod on mine by about 2". Works great though.

Mike W. ... Right off the Cummins engine tag, my engine # is 45357406. This help for correct identification? Any other number you need off this tag?

Thanks so much Mike. If I'm able to get it from them will this actuator & rod end, since the engine number has been supplied, come already assembled so I can just install it without any adjustments or tweaking, do you think?

Iirc the actuator will come with a piece that keeps in the correct adjustment length for your cpl. To remove one with a blown diaphragm will take some ingenuity to extend the rod to take the load off so you can remove the e clip off the link. You will probably need to use your current end on the new actuator. To aid in the install apply 25-30 psi to the actuator

I need to follow up on this tomorrow for you, I did not hear back from Cummins Friday.

What Bob is saying makes sense and when the part numbers settle down and stop superceding a universal actuator will be the replacement.

Thank you gentlemen... ... . please let me know... :)... ..... Mike

Cummins is working on this for me and think that the end result will be a kit. Will post results as soon as I get them.

This is a side effect of QuickServe no longer offering access to the old Parts Topics and I plan on climbing aboard someone in Columbus while there in June to have discussions with regards to that.

It forces my distributor to dig out a dusty old book for the solution. No so Techno... ... .

Thanks again Mike. I do appreciate the "digging" you're doing. A great help :)... ... ... ... ... ... . Mike

My Cummins guys are dragging their feet seeing as I just realized that it was Thursday already, I will call again in the morning.

Mike.

That's OK Mike. Good Information is always worth the wait... Thanks... ... ... ... ... ... ..... Mike

Mike,

Nothing but crickets from my contacts. I surfed the net heavily the other day and even went directly to Holset but no luck so far.

Found the kits aftermarket but no hits on genuine Cummins stuff.

Still chasing it, hope to get an answer before yours finishes rusting apart and falls off in the middle of the road... .

Mike. :)

Thank you Mike. :) I know it's been maybe kind of working half-assed but it definitely is not what it used to be & should be. It hasn't hit the road yet. :-laf Appreciate your time with this... ... ... ... ... . Mike
