Was driving the truck last week (12K miles on odometer) when I looked down and saw the check engine light on. So I took it over to the dealer to put it on the computer. He came back and said the computer stored a code regarding the "Wastegate Actuator".
Said the diesel tech was on vacation for a week, so he didn't clear the code, but said to come back when the diesel tech was back in the shop if the check engine light didn't go off. Well, I continued to drive the truck and the light went off after about 100 miles and 5 or 6 starts, but 10 miles after it went off, it came back on again. I've driven it about another 50 miles since then and it's off again. I haven't seen the light come back on, but I'm going to take it into them and have it checked out anyway.
Has anyone else had problems on the 04. 5 with the electronic wastegate actuator? This problem seems very odd for a truck with only 12K on the odometer! While the check engine light was on, I did notice a lack of power where normally the turbo boost kicks in. So, the only thing I can imagine was the wastegate was stuck open and not allowing the turbo to build and pressure.
Thanks!
