I just bought an HX-35 off of E-bay... (It might have been somebody's from here... ) Anyways, after I won it, I realized that it didn't have a wastegate actuator. (There was only one picture, almost straight on from the compressor side. )

Anyways, my question is, where is the best place to get a wastegate actuator? What is the approximate cost? Are there any aftermarket ones that allow adjustable relief pressure? Or is that what a boost elbow is used for?

Thanks for the help...

Depending on your situation, and fueling enhancements.

It might be cheaper to weld the wastegate shut and stick a plug in the threaded compressor outlet to the wastegate actuator.

jwilliams, I've thought about that, and might even do that...

I can get just about as much fuel as I want, the hx-35 goes out of it's efficiency range at, what, 42 lbs? I heard it once but don't remember...

Thanks for the help, anyone else have any ideas?

This is not going on a cummins, but on this:

http://www.picturetrail.com/turbokid1

(Isuzu 5. 8 liter direct injected, etc)

I turbo'd it when I put it in and used a T04E10 Garrett because I had it laying around... The specified turbo is a T04E12. (Current max boost is about 12 lbs. )

I figured the HX-35 would work well because it is already matched for engine size, it's a proven turbo, and it's wastegated...

Anyway, Thanks

I've got mine plugged off... . when I got it the actuator was bad, haven't gotten a new one yet..... might not... works good. . but I'm not heavily BOMBed either... :)

DT, I have one from my HX if you really need it. I don't like to sell things even though I don't think I'll ever use it again. If you weld the wastegate shut you will make about 44psi with DD3's and a Comp box on 5x5. What are you running for Fuel.

JTroiano- Well, if you were willing to part with it, how much would you want for it?

I actually have an Isuzu diesel... (see above post)

It is the older style with BIG injectors and a big inline injection pump (like p7100). So fuel isn't a problem...

How do you and others keep from blowing head gaskets and putting undue stress on components when running that much boost?

I know all the older semi's ran about 25 maximum before they had to change to low compression ratio pistons, etc. I know a guy with a freightliner with a 460 cummins (turned up to 525). He runs 35 lbs boost, but he has like 14:1 compressio ratio pistons...

So, I'd be interested in that wastegate actuator if you would be willing to part with it...

truckstom- just curious, how much boost are you running with it blocked off? How are you blocking it off? Did you wire it shut, or what?

Thanks
