wastegate dump??

had the crap scared out of me yesterday... . was driving down interstate at about 65 and went to pass... depressed accelerator to WOT and at about 2100rpm's the engine sounded like it started to suck air(woosh noise) and a big cloud of black smoke came out of the exhaust and power decreased significantly. i backed off and it seemed to run fine after that... was it the wastegate dumping or what?? i have a 230 plate and had adjusted to starwheel back towards the firewall a couple of turns... was this problem you think?? input is welcome... thanks. .

Check the clamps and hoses on the intercooler. The whoosh shoulds like it might be a blowout at one of the clamps.

thanks joe... i went to check the hoses and the lower hose on the drivers side was sucked in and leaking and that had to be my problem... funny i just checked them about a week ago and all seemed well... i guess at WOT yesterday it just had enough suction to break it loose. ... thanks again joe, you were a big help... #ad
