Hey guys

02 2500, Fass Hd, 125 over injectors, stock turbo with wicked wheel, Afe CAI, AFE blade
runner intercooler elbow, Juice WA.

Spools well and makes 23psi. Then boost drops off to 12, take foot off fuel pedal, spools again to 23, same thing, falls off.

feels like the wastegate is dumping boost, then resets at 12, then it happens again...

best solution, short of replacing turbo?
I’ve been told that the 02 turbos do not have a replaceable wastegate? Why not?

considering a block off for the wastegate side, fabbing a screw and set nut, to limit boost drop off til 35-40psi. Any good links to a dyi on this process?

any other ideas/fixes/ concerns?

thanks in advance!

Possible boost fooler in edge not working correctly? When overboost is seen in pcm the engine gets derated.

Good thought there: but not throwing any codes.

Would that set off a CEL?
also, how does one check the Edge functionality of that aspect?
thanks for the reply

In theory it should trip a code, but I have seen cases with add on boxes that it doesn’t.

Copy that thank you
i will research how to determine the functionality of the edge

any further insight as to why the stock wastegate on this particular year is not replaceable? It’s just the 01-02 stock turbo for some reason?

Pressurize the system to 20 psi to see how the actuator operates.A common mod back in the day was to remove the actuator, push a 22 bullet into the tube an drill a small hole in the tube as a bleed on the turbo side.Another was to add a spring and a turnbuckle but was easily caught on a visual inspection. There were also a number of companies that made stand alone boost fooler
