I was going to clamp off the tubing on my wastegate this morning to see if I was over-fueled. Climb up there and notice that my wastegate is attached at the end of a triangular bracket and has steel lines running out of it, is this standard?

Resulting in my desire for more air. From take off through 5th at WOT I have people stopping because of the smoke. The novelty of it is great at times but wears off quick when you are trying to get on a highway and leave a mile of black smoke.

It's a 96 3500 5m. The guy I purchased it from had the fuel turned up - apparently nothing else. Assuming this is a 12v forum, I posted a 12v question, seems logical. Considering the usage I have gotten out of my 04. 5, over-valued is a bit of a bad description - 166k miles and still going strong.

Back to the question at hand. I was attempting to clamp off my wastegate hose to see if the smoke cleared up, no hose and the wastegate is on a bracket which stands alone off of the turbo with no hose, is this an aftermarket piece or not?

No shouldn't be aftermarket. The actuator has a pushrod going up to the exhaust side of turbo. With no wastegate you should nail down 30+ psi of boost.

Get some gauges.

Followed the steel tubing over the head and found the tube going into the afc cover. 1 $9 vise grib later the truck is A LOT snappier and doesn't smoke near as bad, but does spin the clutch freely:(

Some times they tend to crack and leak boost around the afc.

May wanna keep boost under 35. Or you need more than a 9 dollar vicegrips?
