Trying to loosen the shaft with no luck. Any ideas ?
Whats the cost of a new wastegate? If you have a part number from either mopar or cummins that would help speed things up also. Tanks a lot.

Hey, I have an idea! Why not dump that fuel wasting turbine housing and move up to a non-wastegated 16cm housing. Your engine will appreciate the change and you'll love it!

Hey DieselB59,

How about explaining benefits & drawbacks for those of us that are not that knowledgable on this subject?

Jeff
Is it stuck closed or open? Are you getting no boost or too much? I thought mine was stuck too at first. Try putting 50psi compressed air into the line from the AFC to the turbo and see if it opens. It's impossable to open it by hand.

Actually its been disconnected. I want to fix it cause I blew it up with the compressed air no good anymore.
I would love to put a larger turbo on. But I'm currently looking for an quad cab long box with 5 spd. It would not make to much sense to bom this truck when looking for a different one.

Thats true Jeff but a 16cm may be cheaper than messing with the stock wastegate. It takes about 30 min to install. Hope it all works out for ya.

I don't think you will get it chnged in 30 minutes if the housing hasn't been off before. Furthermore, youhave to move the exhaust system forward 1. 25" because the non-wastegated housings are that much shorter. You can get a used 12 cm2 housing with wastegate linkage and pot if indeed the diaphragm is blown and the shaft has managed to get seized. That would probably be cheapest and easiest, but not easy because after a few years it is pretty hard to remove the exhaust housing from the center housing. If you don't get it off straight (turn the vanes by hand to be sure they don't get in a bind while hammering on the housing) you can bend a vane or the shaft.

We don't move the exhausts forward... . Instead, we use an adapter that adds another v-clamp to the equation. Mine never leaked before I moved up to the HX40. Spray plenty of penetrating oil on the turbo and let sit overnight, then just loosen up on the retainers and hit it with a steel hammer until you can rotate the compressor side, then it'll be able to readily slide out.
