I have never posted a picture before, but thought I would try with this one. It is the best picture I have seen regarding the wastegate turnbuckle installation.

I wish I had seen that when I was installing a turnbuckle for the first time! Just in case anyone is trying it , that is a view from below looking up as the turbo sits in the truck. :)

Did that just two days ago....

I had asked about disabling my wastegate, and got a ton of replies on how to go about doing it. At first I was going with the turnbuckle, S-hook, and spring idea just as Big White Beast had done in this post (with great pictures mind you) https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34894

BUT, I bought too long of a turnbuckle, therefore making it impossible to get the hook and spring on there at the same time... . so, instead I put the hook end of the turnbuckle onto the wastegate-actuator-lever-thingy (scientific, I know  ) and I looped a piece of multistranded wire around the piece that comes off the compressor side of the turbo (don't know it's name either). I tightened up the wire, then the turnbuckle, and what do ya know, but I went from 19 lbs. of boost right up to 26-28 lbs. And, it makes all the difference in the world!!! I haven't seen an EGT reading over 1100* F now, and before I could hit 1200* like nothing. Feels like there's more power once it gets there too. Mine is what I like to call "country-fied", because it looks like a farmer did it, but it works, and if the wire breaks, I have spare wire in the tool box. Plus, it's on it about 2 minutes, and off in less than 30 seconds.

Later, Josh.
