wastegate valve

I know this has probably been beat to death but i have a small question about the wastegate



My dads truck is bogging down when he gets on the trottle... a mechanic where he works said it might be the waste gate valve. .



is this true and if it is, what can be done to fix it...



or is it something that has to be done at the stealership

I have never heard of a wastegate causing a problem like that. If he had gauges, he would be able to tell but it sounds more like a fueling problem to me.

maybe it is not the waste gate, the mechanic just said dump valve... i assumed it was the wastegate
