I bought my truck a few months ago and noticed that the wastegate line had been disconnected at the top of the engine. Was capped off on both ends. The question is, will this hurt anything or will the wastegate just not work?

Thanks for any and all help

If your engine is stock, the extra boost doesn't give you any extra power. In fact it takes a little extra power to make the boost you don't need. You are correct in assuming the wastegate won't open. I doubt it will hurt anything but unless you have a set of gauges (Boost and EGT) it's hard to tell what's going on in your engine. You can't go wrong with a set of gauges even on a stock engine, if yours is even stock. If it has more mods than just a disabled wastegate, all the more reason for gauges.

Warren, if someone had the smarts to plug the wastegate I'll bet they also moved the plate forward and turned the AFC wheel up. If so at least a pyro is in order, a slid plate can jack up your exhaust temps better than most aftermarket ones.

At the back of the injection pump, on the passenger side there is an anti-tamper screw that many people do not replace or repaint when they open it up to slide or change the plate.
