turbo diesel CR Theory

1 Ton Tundra Diesel project truck.

My wife was just telling me this weekend on the way to an RV Resort where we are staying for the weekend that she was in the drive-up line at a local McDonalds the other day getting the grandkids the ole McNuggets.

The mickie mike person asked my wife if there was something wrong with her car since it was making so much noise. My wife said it's not a car, it's a truck and no there wasn't anything wrong with it. So the mickie mike person asked her to shut off her truck because it was making too much noise and she couldn't hear what she was saying.

My wife said she laughed and just moved up to the window instead. Too funny, I love my clackity clack clacker :)

I have to shut off my truck at those windows too, its great. My wife was driving the truck one day and had crusty looks from a person two cars up in the drive through lane because the truck was so loud. I like it.

Been there many times... ... ... I often have to bite my tongue to keep from making a smart remark.

I learned a long time ago... ... never mess with anybody who's preparing your food!

I rarely drive through if I'm on the highway as I don't like shutting down hot, but on a late night food run local, I'll just drive up to the main window

I got that comment at McD's recently in my '07. I told the guy I was glad I wasn't diving my NOISY truck. :) I was waiting at a gas station for the pumps to come available one day last winter in the 94. A guy came out of the service bay came out and asked me to shut the truck off cuz I was smoking out the shop. :-laf

I like to play with the dummies that sit and look for 25mins at the menu and still can't figure life out. as soon as they pull up to the mic I am as close as poss and lean on the throttle to about 1200 and watch the look on their face! amazing how fast they spit the order out.

Iv found that most of the staff on those drivein places dont speak english that well anyway and the systems they use arent the best quality.

Its easier for me to shut down so they get the order right.

JMHO.

If I had a VP or 12 valve truck, I can see shutting down. But I won't shutdown my CR. 9 out of 10 fast food places will take your order with out hassle. The ones that hassle, I speak up, and if that doesn't work, I just go next door :)

I have been known to pull up to a certain KFC, watch 2 cars go in front of me (quickly). And then WAIT (5 min!) for a "may I take your order". "hello, anyone there?" I scream. . nothing. Pull up to the window see ppl in there. So I lay on the train horns. Chuckle as they all take a dive to the floor!!! That worked. needless to say, I said, fark you and drove off when they opened the window.

This thread is amazing. I'd bet most of you would be the first to complain when your order is screwed up. Hope you like spit, because I'd venture to guess you've all ate plenty (not to mention all the other misc. kitchen dirt). Good luck on your goal of sticking it to the people who control your food. When your done with that may I suggest p-ing off your doctors.

Don't give me the whole "shutting down a hot truck" crap, if the engine is that big of a POS then why would you want to own one?;)

First, when you shut down your motor at 800EGT's for McCrap burgers let me know :)

Second, it's THEIR JOB to get things right. If they can't manage that, they deserve to look like a troll and get insulted. But if you are to complain, make sure you have them cooks in plain sight :-laf

I know the lowest common denominator work at these places, but that's no excuse for complete retardation, unless, infact you are mentally retarded, and then the manager shouldn't allow them near things like, cooking, taking orders, ect.

Come on now, it's not difficult.

800deg??? Wow maybe you should slow down in the parking lot. Mines cooled below 400deg just by downshifting for the driveway.

You correct, it is their job to get things right. And for most other people I'm sure they don't have a problem hearing. Until some idiot in a loud truck parks less than 2' from the microphone and expects them to be able to make out their order. The employees can't do anything to eliminate the noise but you can. I'll even tell you how: take your right hand and turn the key counterclockwise one notch! Read that again slowly if you didn't understand. I'll even use your words "Come on now, it's not difficult".

You may consider the people who work at fast food resturants as "lowest common denominator" or "mentally retarded" which from your post(s) seems a bit ironic to me. ;) Personally as I could never do that job (mostly because of people like you and the others above) I am a bit more positive toward them simply because they actually have a job and I don't have to support them. Have a good day and enjoy your spit burgers. :-laf

My son works at one of those places and I'd bet money he's quite a bit smarter than you are. Engineering student at OSU who works part time. :-laf

I have been asked to shut my truck off and gladly comply. I want my order right and rather than taking the I'm more important than anyone else and pull up to the window approach.

Remember you're attitude and loud truck are the problem not the person that can't hear you.

That's a bold statement there about your son. Some would say an internship at an engineering company in the industry he wishes to work in would be a smarter choice. But hey, because your in (or went to) collage your must be smart right?

Like I said, the majority of the fast food places do not mind, if they do, even at 400degree EGT's I go some place else, or park and go in. I shut down no more then 330.

As for mentally retarded. Maybe that wasn't implied loose enough. I'm talking about the kids that are forced there by their mothers to work and just don't care. In this case, retarded = kid that doesn't accept that fact that someone even gave him a job cuz (s)he was to lazy to apply his/her self in high school.

Yeah, the wal-mart greeter type that really truly have mental problem (birth defects, ect). I'm not referring to them, I have yet to see people of that nature do tasks that would involve a safety or money issue.

And people complain about Juvenile Delinquents and the Depraved, have a few here reading these posts, must feel Great and Macho insulting Low Wage help. Well it takes all kinds

Only when I get a sprite when I order a coke :)

Sorry, my attention to detail with my job is a little high. A mistake like that will most likely get my fired. So my approach to things is, don't screw up. Is it bad that I carry it along other things?

if i can't idle mine to 300* in a couple minutes i grab my spare key lock it and leave it, i always sit where i can watch my vehicle even when it's not running, close future plans include a cool down timer

Out here in KOMIFORNIA 98% of the workers cannot speak english!! It is amazing that in the last 6mo the amount of fast food places have replaced the white and black workers with mexicans! nothing more annoying than someone on the drive through that cannot speak english!!! I'm sure all of us have had some kind of lame job in the past that we regret having! I was told one time at a job interview that the reason I was not picked was because I had not gone to collage and showed my willingness to spend 4yrs earning a degree. didn't matter that I had 10yrs doing the job, they wanted the time in collage. I had to earn money for my family and did not have the money for collage. But now I make a lot more money than most of my friends that went to collage!!
