Watch the torque on Milwaukee drills

I had a half inch drill with a 9/16 bit grab on me once and I didn't have a side handle to help hold it. It gave me a sore thumb that lasted several months. In the twisting motion my hand hit the trigger lock and the thing spun around until it unplugged itself and bent the bit. I am really careful now and when drilling with a big bit I give the trigger little bumps when I'm close to breaking through so I don't kill myself.

Off topic, but I remember "Sheriff John"! I must have been about 5 years old, but I still remember my mom mailing him a letter telling him about my upcoming birthday. Each day he used to read a list of kids names who had birthdays on that day, so on March 11 (1967?? ), I was glued to the TV and I got to hear him read my name on the air. I know, it sounds corny, but when you're a kid, it doesn't take much to send your ego soaring (keep that in mind with your kids).

If we all supposedly get 15 minutes of fame, I'm still due 14 minutes and 55 seconds!

Andy, that reminded me of the time when I was on the Bozo the Clown show. Bozo reached over to hand me something and his glove separated from his sleeve. I was in shock, the exposed skin was black! Not that I was prejudiced but it was a little too much for my five year old brain.

I've got a couple of the milwaukee drills that have been in daily use for 5 years. Tough Tough Tough. They have been dropped 2 stories onto concrete and only recently was one damaged from that. Chipped a 1/4 # piece off the plastic. One landed in a pond one time when building a Pergola over the water. I cannot bielive the power these things have. They will break off a 1/2 inch bit if stuck. Neither my DeWault hammer drill or Craftsman are near as tough and I don't think they will be around by the time the Millwaukees die. I have made a point of grinding off the Triggerlocks when I get a new tool after having a Black and decker Wildcat Side grinder wheel catch in a groove and try to beat the c#@p out of me.

Welcome to the crowd!!! My Milwaukie grabbed and was jerked out of my hand and then fell about 10 feet to the concrete, no damage to the drill. But I took a break for a while. It was a good excuse to drink a beer.



Papa Joe, mentioned that a Skil 77 can make a bloody mess, oh yeah!!! the first guy was actually using a Milwaukie 81/2 saw and had it kick back just missing his most favorite tool, cutting into his thigh and just barely nicking his artery. Many stitches later and he has fine.



A month later another guy this time using a Skil 77, had a kick back and it caught his favorite tool!!!!!!!! Can you say screamin' in pain, asking me to shoot him. (no joke there) I calmly told him I was a firefighter and did not have a gun. He was fairly lucky he only took a big divet out of the thing. I never found out the final out come of his condition.



I guess this is why they put safety !@#$ on things, but I now have a true respect for saws and every time I use one I think of these two poor guys. These calls happened 5 or 6 years ago.

Finally got tired of the cast yesterday and took a pair of tin snips to it It is a little sore at the wrist but I think that I will live! I was only five days short of six weeks. I go see the Doc next week.

Steve, I bet you saw a few gory things as a fire fighter or EMT. I would be VERY excited too if a Skil saw got near to my favorite tool. Chris

just today I was useing a 1/2 drill (big sucker with a D handle on the back) with a 4" hole saw... the thing dug in and smashed my little finger into a 2x4 stud. now it s all swelled and the whole finger is blueish! and stiff too. . I hope the bone isnt cracked or worse. main thing is be respectful of those things... thats why they are called "POWER TOOLS" ! hehe.
