As funny as it sounds, that's what they are testing in California. I'll let you just read the press release.

Here's a link to more info:

Chevron Products Company announced today the launch of a lower-emissions fuel for diesel engines. Proformix™, a new cost-effective, cleaner-burning fuel, significantly reduces particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). Chevron is introducing the new fuel in limited quantities to on- and off-highway commercial customers in Southern California.

“Proformix™ fuel instantly reduces emissions from most existing diesel engines without hardware add-ons, engine modifications or replacements required by many other diesel fuel alternatives,” said Sheila Taylor, vice president of U. S. Marketing, Chevron Products Company. “It is a ‘fill-and-go,’ practical solution for our commercial customers to reduce emissions. ”

Using this technology through an agreement with The Lubrizol Corporation, a fluid technology company specializing in high-performance chemicals, systems and services, Chevron has taken a lead in bringing lower-emissions diesel emulsion fuel to outhern

California.

Proformix™ is a “water-in-fuel” diesel blend that utilizes Lubrizol’s PuriNOx™ Technology to lower PM and NOx emissions in diesel engines. The California Air Resources Board (ARB) verified the emission benefits of the technology with data showing PM reduction of 63 percent and NOx reduction of 14 percent.

The fuel is created using a high-speed blending process that creates water droplets under one micron in size. These droplets are encapsulated by additives that prevent them from coalescing, making them invisible to the engine while improving combustion to reduce emissions.

Proformix™ is initially available to commercial accounts at Chevron’s Montebello, Calif. terminal. The product is marketed to on- and off-highway commercial customers with centrally fueled fleets or equipment, including buses, waste management fleets, agricultural/construction equipment and stationary power generators.

Proformix™ fuel can benefit the environment and provide customers with an effective way to meet air quality objectives. Proformix ™ reduces both NOx and PM emissions

simultaneously. Current available test data on alternative fuels such as Bio-diesel and ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel) have shown no similar reduction in NOx emissions.

Waht do you guys think about it? Anyone know more about it?

Water in fuel????

Now just what do you think THAT will do for your MPG, or power?

Only a politician would come up with an idea like that.

What's next..... watered down beer to reduce methane emmissions?:{ :-{}

If it really works it would be great.

Remember the water injection systems on gassers??

They worked. The systems wouldn't last though.

No, the cost would be phenoninal if Perrier got involved, because of the high cost of One Worldism.

I would not even want that foul tasting swill in my diesel. I can tell you from experience though, that Perrier, who is owned by Nestle Corp. , probably has plans on owning Chevron Corp. at some point in the future.

Fight the Good Fight.

Its not that funny. The State of Texas will be useing this fuel starting July the first 2002 in District 12. If you dont know where District 12 is ,its the greater Houston and surrounding counties. I was also told it just might be comeing to a diesel pump near you(if you live in District 12) in the near future. This is what my boss told me and the rest of my fellow co-workers monday , that District Office told him. We were told that we will have to take off all the water seperators off of all the trucks and heavy equipment. I call my fuel suppler today that brings my fuel to my house( and also to the job site) and they do not have this fuel yet. I have heard thur the vine that a different company will be bringing this water/fuel to the job site?I was also told today that we will keep three extra fuel filters on hand for each peace of equipment. I have been saying for quite some time now that this state will be the next California? To much economical develoment, to many people, to many cars. There are more vehicals registerd in Harris County than in any other part of the state so go ahead, invite every to the state! and dont forget, open up the border too!

Lubizol is right near where I work in Painesville, Ohio. The county busses around here were used as the test guinea pigs and have been running on the stuff for awhile.

You do lose a small percentage in BTU, thus power and mileage, but I don't think it is considerable.

You do get energy out of the water too as it expands into steam. Kinda free energy as it also cools the engine to a degree.

Lots of interesting energy sources on the horizon and in the works.
